The WILUP team, led by Dr. Vida Carandang and Dr. Rex Cruz, conducted the CLUP target-setting workshop with the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the updating of the San Gabriel CLUP to finalize the vision, mission, goals, objectives, and targets for the next nine years. The meeting was held on February 28, 2023, at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall and attended by representatives from the municipal offices of San Gabriel, provincial offices of La Union, Region 1 government offices, and representatives from the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University.
During the Vision and Mission setting, the TWG members assessed and revised the vision and mission outlined in San Gabriel’s existing CLUP as needed for updating. The team proceeded to the next activity following TWG’s approval of all recommendations and amendments.
For the next activity, the WILUP team grouped TWG members into four categories depending on their areas of concern. The social, environmental, infrastructure, and economic aspects are among the issues that require addressing. Furthermore, the goals, objectives, and targets from San Gabriel’s previous CLUP were evaluated by each group. The TWG members provided recommendations and presented them to the other groups, recognizing the necessity to update these goals, objectives, and targets depending on the municipality’s needs and accomplishments over the years.
Lastly, the WILUP team presented the development thrusts from the existing CLUP of the municipality. Members of the TWG will analyze the current development thrust and discuss the appropriate and effective solutions they will recommend for each sector. Also, they will identify barangays within San Gabriel that require prioritizing for these development thrusts.
The workshop concluded with all TWG members committing to continue cooperating among themselves to further conform to the updating of San Gabriel’s CLUP. The WILUP team also assured that all activity inputs would be presented and evaluated by the TWG before proceeding to the next steps for the CLUP updating.
