The project team held a courtesy visit to Atty. Richard Venancio Fernando Ziga, Director of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Region 1, on March 1, 2023. Afterwards, the team, headed by Dr. Vida Carandang and Dr. Rex Victor Cruz, convened with representatives of the Environmental, Land Use, and Urban Planning & Development Division (ELUPDD), including Engr. Danielle Casison, also the designated Technical Working Group member, and Engr. Octavo Prudencio Jr.

The meeting was initiated to discuss the capacity-building activities prepared by the WILUP team, a product of an integration of the training activities of the project and the activities from the Technical Planning Assistance Program (TPAP) designed by the DHSUD central office. During the discussion, the team was able to determine training activities that they may implement in collaboration with the DHSUD Region I. Moving forward, the regional office commit to coordinate continuously with the team in their upcoming activities and any possible joint training activities and workshop for the province of La Union.
