The WILUP Team, spearheaded by the project leader, Asst. Professor Mario U. Tercero and UPLB CDRA expert, Dr. Yusuf A. Sucol, met with the San Gabriel Technical Working Group members for the updating of their Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) and Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP). This workshop was conducted in the San Gabriel Multi-Purpose Hall last November 22, 2023 with the key TWG members including representatives from MENRO, MHO, MAO, MDRRMO, MEO, MPDO and MSWD.
During the first part of the workshop, Dr. Sucol conducted a consultation session with the Technical Working Group (TWG) members to update their exposure database. The workshop focused on identifying and characterizing the natural hazards that may have a potential impact to their barangays. Moreover, the database provided baseline information on potentially affected elements covering population, urban use areas, natural resource production areas, critical point facilities and lifeline utilities/infrastructure.
On the other hand, Asst. Professor Mario U. Tercero conducted a workshop to update the sectoral studies of San Gabriel CLUP. He discussed the data requirements for each sector, including environment, social, institutional, economic, infrastructure, and disaster risk management. Moving forward, the TWG will accomplish the document with the assistance from the WILUP team.
The WILUP team continues to provide technical assistance to the municipality of San Gabriel in updating both their Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Comprehensive Development Plan (CDRA). The crafting and updating of these plans will be a collaborative effort, with the support of the key municipal offices as part of the Technical Working Group (TWG).
