In the pursuit to facilitate the application of the Ridge-to-Reef/Watershed Ecosystem Management (R2R/WEM) Approach in the development of the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan, the WILUP team initiated a meeting with the members of the Technical Working Group from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Region I on September 12, 2023. WILUP team met with Engr. Prudencio Octavio and Engr. Anne Danielle Casison to discuss initial plans for the upcoming capacity-building activities to be conducted in the region. The proposed activities, consisting of various modules and topics, were presented by the team along with a detailed timeline.

DHSUD Region I is offering its expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assist in WILUP initiatives for the capacity-building program. Moreover, WILUP and DHSUD Region 1 will establish a closely coordinated effort to facilitate proposed activities and provide assistance to each other.
